Mars – Year 3

Welcome to Mars Class!

My name is Miss Leane and I am your child’s class teacher. In our class, the children have Ms Brien supporting them with their work too.

This half term we will be learning lots of new and exciting things. Our topic is extreme survival and we will be visiting London Zoo to bring this topic alive.

In English we have started a great text called ‘The day the crayons quit!’ We’ll be writing our own diary entries, persuasive letters and newspaper reports.

Now children are in the juniors they will need to bring their own fruit for a playtime snack. I will remind them to take this to the playground. The children will also be learning Spanish once a week.

In science we will be learning about animals and humans and the children will be taking part in different investigations and making their own meals that represents a balanced diet.

In Maths the children will be working their way through the year 3 national curriculum in a fun and interactive way. It is really important that the children keep learning their 3, 4 and 8 times tables through the year in school and at home. The more practise the better!!

A few helpful reminders:

We have PE on a Tuesday where children must bring their PE Kits and swimming on a Wednesday where children must have a swimming costume/ trunks, a swimming hat and a towel in order to take part in the session.

Children must read and have their reading record signed every night. If this isn’t completed more than twice in a week then your child will miss their playtime to read with a teacher in school.

Homework is due in on Wednesday. I will mark it and return it on Thursday. If homework isn’t completed then children will be expected to complete it at playtime.
