Pluto – Year 6

Hello and welcome to Pluto class!

PLUTO Curriculum Overview 2017-2018

We’re very lucky this year to have all of Year 6 together for their final year at St John Evangelist. Kim and Alana will be working with us this year, and we are very much looking forward to everything we will achieve together.

We have lots of exciting learning to do this year. Please make sure your reading records are in school everyday. It is important that you read every night for at least 20 minutes, and that you make a thoughtful comment about your reading. It is important that an adult also signs your reading record. You will have a guided reading session at least once a week with a teacher. Homework will be given out on a Thursday, to be handed in the following Wednesday. We will have a spelling and times table test every Wednesday.

This term we have PE on a Wednesday.

Our topic this half term is ‘Winds of Change’, we will be reading all about Vesuvius in our fiction and non-fiction texts.

We will be starting our maths for the year with place value, estimation, addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

In science we will be studying extraordinary electricity! I very much look forward to investigating with our budding scientists!

We can’t wait to spend the year with Pluto class!

Best wishes,

Miss WInstone, Kim Costa and Alana McCormack
