Pluto – Year 6

This Spring Term Pluto Class are working exceptionally hard! Our Whole Class Reading book is ‘When Hitler Stole Pink Rabbit’ by Judith Kerr. It explores the life of a family during the beginning of World War Two and their escape from persecution. This links to our topic of ‘Walls and Barricades’, where we will be researching the construction and history of walls such as the ‘Berlin Wall’, ‘Hadrian’s Wall’ and ‘The Great Wall of China’. We will be creating graffiti artwork inspired by graffiti found on the Berlin Wall, particularly the political messages painted on it after the wall was destroyed.

In Science, we are exploring ‘living things in their habitats’. We will be understanding the features of living things, life cycles and classifying animals depending on their characteristics. We will also be constructing classifying keys.

In English we will be looking at the text ‘Kidnap’, which is based on the Alex Rider novel ‘Stormbreaker’. We will be writing our own flashback adventure stories and creating adverts for a new spy gadget.

In Maths we will be revising all the calculations we have learnt so far. We will be particularly exploring algebraic equations and linear sequences.
