The best way to get to know a school is to visit and see the children engaged in their learning and play.

The school holds open mornings throughout October. The dates are available from the school office – office@stjohnevangelist.islington.sch.uk

All admissions

All new admissions to St John Evangelist Catholic Primary School are dealt with by the school’s Governing Board. You can download (see bottom of page), or collect the forms, which you need to complete and return to the school.

Reception Admissions

Children start school in the September following their fourth birthday. All applications for Reception places are handled by the London Borough of Islington and you must apply via them using the common application form. You can find this by visiting Islington School Admissions. In addition, you should also complete the school’s Supplementary Information Form (below). Although not compulsory, the information on this extra form enables the Governing Body to assess your application fully against the school criteria in the event of oversubscription. Please download the supplementary information form and return it directly to the school office.

The deadline for applying for a school place starting in September 2024 is 15th January 2024.

Nursery Admissions

Our Nursery is open to children aged three and four, and children are eligible to start from the term after their third birthday. Applications for nursery places are handled directly by the school. You can apply at any point throughout the year as we accept children at the start of all 3 terms.

We are currently accepting applications for children to start in our school nursery from September 2024. The nursery is led by a fully qualified teacher, supported by a Nursery Nurse. Each day runs from 8.45am to 3:15pm and additional childcare is available for nursery children until 5:30pm through our Extended Schools Service.

Places will be offered in accordance with the nursery admission’s policy. There are four options depending on parental circumstances:

Option A – 30 hours of free nursery education for those parents who meet the eligibility criteria (outlined below)

Option B – 15 hours of free nursery education plus 15 hours of paid nursery education for parents who do not meet the eligibility criteria, but who enter into a paid contract agreement with the nursery

Option C – 15 hours of free nursery education – Monday/ Tuesday all day and Wednesday morning

Option D – 15 hours of free nursery education – Wednesday afternoon, Thursday and Friday all day

If you are interested in applying for either a full or part time place or would like to arrange a visit to the nursery, please contact the school by emailing office@stjohnevangelist.islington.sch.uk or phoning 020 7226 1314

Please note that a place in our Nursery Class does not guarantee a place in our Reception Class. Please refer to the Reception Admissions for more information.
