Parish Links

St John Evangelist Catholic Primary School works closely with the Parish. Our new Parish Priest, Fr Rajiv, and Fr Jakub are very involved with the Catholic Life of the School and are frequent visitors to assemblies and classrooms (occasionally they also drop in for hot chocolate with the ‘Stars of the Week’!)

The whole school and parish community are invited to attend Mass at the start of each term and for Holy Days of Obligation. Mgr Rajiv and Fr Jakub visit individual classes to work with the children to develop their understanding of their faith and the children regularly visit the Church to learn about individual aspects of their faith e.g. to take part in a Baptism or to walk the Stations of the Cross or to pray.

Altar Servers:

Children in Years 4, 5 and 6 are invited to train to become altar servers with Fr Jakub. Children have three training sessions and then are able to support at school Masses and when they attend Mass with their families in their Church.

Harvest Liturgy for pupils on Friday 3rd November 2023

All Saints Day Mass 10am on Wednesday 1st November 2023 (parents welcome)

Christingle Service in the Church on Friday 1st December at 3:45pm. Please collect your child and bring them to the Church for a Carol fundraising service. You can find out more about Christingle here: What Is Christingle? | The Children’s Society (childrenssociety.org.uk)

Weekly Class Mass Dates:

Every week, one class visits the church to take part in weekday Mass with the parishioners. In KS2, the children are responsible for the readings and prepare and read the bidding prayers. Children are taught how to write bidding prayers and speak confidently in Church by their teachers.
