Mars – Year 3

Welcome to Mars Class!

My name is Miss Daniels and I am your child’s class teacher. In our class, the children have Mrs Marinaro supporting us with our work too. This year is an exciting and busy year for us.

This term we will be focusing on three topics: Back to school; The World’s kitchen and The Great War. Back to school is focusing on ensuring we are all feeling ready on our return to school and ways to help us be ready. In The world’s kitchen we will be focusing on: locating continents of the world on a map; understanding trade between countries and learning about a range of food from different countries. The Great War will be focusing on events within the Great War.

In Whole class reading we are going to be reading Flat Stanley. We will use this text to support our comprehension and reading skills.

In Maths, we will be practicing a range of skills including number, shape and fractions. These will be online available on google classrooms.

We have PE on a Tuesday morning and Friday morning. Please ensure your child’s PE kit is in school on these days. They will be sent home each day to be washed and returned the next PE day.

Children must read and sign their own reading record each day. If they do not have their reading record sign twice a week, they will be expected to stay in during their lunchtime on Friday to read.

A spelling test will be done on Thursday for the spellings that have been set on the previous week’s homework.

Please ensure your child has a school water bottle which can be purchased at the office for £1. Children are welcome to bring in fruit which they can have at break time.

Thank-you for your ongoing support! We are delighted to be back and can’t wait for the year ahead.
