Spirituality Day

To begin the season of Advent, we celebrated with a day of Spirituality. The children took part in lots of activities to start this special season of waiting with lots of opportunities for song, art and prayer. To start the day, we prayed a Visio or Lectio Divina using scripture or art linked to hope and our current Catholic Social Teaching theme – preferential option for the poor. In our whole school assembly we lit the first Advent calendar and considered our hopes for this Advent. In classes we created Jesse tree decorations and learnt more about Jesus’ ancestors and we used these to decorate our classrooms. We also made art work for our communal Advent displays. In the afternoon, we took part in a special online retreat with ‘One Life Music’ including song, reflection, meditation and prayer. It was a wonderful day that has prepared us for this period of waiting for Christ.
